WorkSafe ACT launching new HSR network

13 March 2025

WorkSafe ACT is launching its new Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) network. The network aims to facilitate direct engagement with, and between, HSRs within the territory to open a line of communication and information sharing.

HSRs play a key role in supporting their colleagues and providing a voice on work health and safety issues, making a significant difference in improving the health and safety of their work group.

However, there can be barriers that may prevent people from taking on the role of an HSR or challenges in fulfilling their functions.

Persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) are obligated to support their HSRs by providing the necessary resources, facilities, and assistance to help them effectively exercise their powers and carry out their functions. This includes enabling them to attend HSR training of their choice and covering the associated costs.

Being an effective HSR is an ongoing process that requires continuous learning and support.

To assist in this, WorkSafe ACT is launching the HSR network, which aims to provide guidance and support to ensure that current HSRs, future HSRs, and PCBUs have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities, allowing them to effectively fulfill their functions.

The network will offer updates and relevant WHS information to anyone interested in HSRs.

You can sign up for the network by emailing hsrnetwork@worksafe.act.gov.au.
